panel silence

I am using fireworks version 1.71 and an old parallel port dongle on a windows 7
I used to silence the panel from fireworks after acknowledging all the events , but its not working anymore now.
I would like to silence the panel after acknowledging all the events
Although the communication is successful using a usb to serial cable.

Please help
