T12 Ground (Earth) Fault
Detected in Wiring or
System.
This specific Trouble Code is generated when an earth fault is detected on the
field wiring positive. See Ground Fault in Section 2: AM2020/AFP1010 Hard-
ware.

In what year installed panel?
How many stations in the network, how many loops?
Do you have a CRT monitor and printer?
How do you upload a configuration?
Do you have a program Verifire?
What you have manuals?

Ok the panel was installed in 93 or 94
There is six slc loops one remote annunciator
I have removed all loops then tested and T12 still was there it is an intermittent trouble
And seems to show up at ramdom times I only have the manual
To go off of and I can't get any help from the distributor
No CRT or printer so I can only read what the display tells me
The system is hooked up to a city box that can only be taken out once a week cause this place is a
Hospital of sorts so I can't take any chances

While I realize that this thread is a couple of years old, I would like to see if anyone out there can provide some insights to a problem that has plagued my facility for 18 years. I have the Notifier AFP 1010 which was new in 1994. Each year usually when we get a couple of good days of rain (3-4 inches) which is quite often here in the great Pacific Northwest, average rainfall is 120-140 inches a year. Anyway, after a couple of days of rain we get the "Earth Ground Fault in System Wiring" Trouble in the panel. Last year we upgraded our dialer from the Radionics D2071A to the Silent Night 5128/29. I was also informed that all of our wiring in conduits & in underground open vaults was not rated for these wet locations and was only designed for indoor wall use. So my question is how can I trace this thing down and figure out from the thousands of feet of this stuff which one is the bad wire or wires? What is different this year and it seems to be getting worse,is that the trouble has been happening now even after a couple of weeks or no rain. I have a request in to the University for a complete facility review of our panel, and the wiring, along with a request for upgrading the smokes to addressable devices, and possibly a new panel and all new wiring. This will be a big job for sure. But in the meantime I would like to get this things figured out as the dialer is driving the ladies in the main office crazy with the beeping every 10 seconds. There is no silence on this one, and I already packed the buzzer with tissue.

This is not a AFP1010 problem this is a Ground problem.
any alarm tech worth his salt can fix this.
The first thing a good tech would do is lift all the wires off the panel to clear the ground
Land one wire at a time back on the panel until the ground returns and then fight through it.
any help you can give the tech would help greatly. ie. all locations where the wire goes under ground.
someone at the panel with a radio to let the tech know when the ground clears.
and if that tech/alarm company can not fix it call another.

PS. the AFP1010 is old, I would put a number in the budget for that first.

If you can not find a short to ground, then try to disable the monitoring of the ground fault. This is done on the PSU MPS24

If you have underground wiring that is not rated for wet locations, you are chasing your tail. If the insulation on these wires is failing from water damage, you will never stop the ground faults. The first step is to replace any and all wiring that is in this condition.
