Thing to think about: ((( working on))))
1. You can download via the RS232 port of the CPU. You will need a RS232 card at that CPU and you can load from ANY CPU. But are limited to 9600bd.
2. Baud rate 38.4 will not cut the time in half over 19.2, this is because of the wait time between CPU's.
3. If your network is running at 19.2 you can download at 38.4, In most casts you CAN run your network at 38.4
4. The ASU only needs to be loaded if you change the messages
5. The SSDC/SDDC cards only need to be loaded if changes are made to it. ie. add/delete devices. NOT if the labels or descriptions are changed.
6. Try not to change the SDU Version ie. 01.00.00 -> 01.00.01 or you will need to load the SSDC cards.
Check total CPU bits to download,
9600 - 41-45k per minute
19.2 - 52-64k per minutes
38.4 - 93k per minutes - Connected to the rj11 jack and only load that panel
Remember to also upload the device map and check them if its been a while at the site.
3,800k/73 minutes = 53 per minute

In setting my download speed to 38.4 one of the panels locked up. I received errors and it stopped downloading.
I needed to load the panel direct to unfreeze it.
-Lesson to be learned, you can over do the speed of the data network. (But keep in mind this is a very big network, 27cpu's)

Re: EST3 - Reducing Download Time (working on)
Indeed a good post.
I have a client with approx 13 cpu's and it takes approx 90 minutes to download.
what other workarounds have been successfully made? care to share?

When saving the project do a "save" not "save as" if you keep the same version number you can download to just the card you need to
and not get a database out of sync with cpu. (only exception is if you change a rule or something in the cpu card)
