Fail Safe Event Trouble

Post by namlashs »

Hi,

I have one panel in my network which has the following trouble:

Trouble Message: Fail_Safe_Event_10_00
Address: 10000016 (Panel 10, Rail 00, Address 0016) - In other words: CPU

The panel does not have any other troubles and all LRM communication is good.
The panel operation does not seem to be affected in any way.
Alarm response is normal as per the rules.

Any suggestions on what might cause this? Seems to me like a CPU hardware issue, but I need to make sure. Could any loop devices cause this? Any specific troubleshooting ideas that don't involve replacing the CPU unless necessary.

Thanks
Leo

it's CPU
but first try
load a blank database, no rules, no cards

if you buy one and it is not bad, you need a spare anyway

Another unexpected find:

Turns out that it was one SDDC1 card that was causing this fail safe event. I unplugged this card, and everything was fine. Plug it back to the rail, it would give a fail-safe event. I downloaded the bootloader, app code and database for the sddc1 and the database for CPU, but still, it would give a fail-safe event. The version request for sddc1 was also fine. Then i changed this sddc1 with a spare and everything was fine.

I was more than 90% sure that it is a faulty CPU, but turns out it wasn't the case.

Definitely learned something new today. Even if a trouble is indicated at rail location 00, there is a possibility of the root cause coming from a different source which maybe another card or device. Eliminating all other possibilities before drawing conclusions. :)
