a few things:
wire directly to the power supply as a printer with you laptop.
connect your PC, open hyperterminal and run reports, this will confirm that your connection is good.

Hi

I was given a quickstart 1 panel. The panel is conventional. I want to download the database from the panel to my laptop, but it keeps coming up with an error. I have a usb to serial adapter and a programming cable that i made from the drawing on this site. It lets me choose the com port and it starts to try to communicate with the panel, but then it returns this error. See pic below. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Please help a newbie out. Thanks
