Central Station description standard for fireman

I was at a very big bldg trying to put point descriptions in the FACP and CS Central Station.
When I saw a Fireman and asked him what would be best for them.
he said they have a standard for the sides of a bldg
not north/south front/rear but ABCD

The standard for the sides of a bldg A=Front B=left side C=rear D=right side
this is for the fire department to help ID the area of the fire.

deciding which side is front can sometimes be a problem.
this is not needed for supv and trouble,

does anyone use ABCD descriptions.
