I ever programmed a MXL panel.
I just assumed that the software needed a key or something.
could someone enlighten me.

You will have to call in a Siemens dealer for the Cerberus pro and a Siemens corporate branch for any desigo work.
Both panels use software much like notifier does . There flat out, is no way to get it without being a dealer.

The mxl requires a permanent key from Siemens, but will be worthless unless you are a dealer . For dealer "a" to plug into a panel installed and programmed by dealer "b", would require a password of the day request by the customer. Once approved , a Siemens dealer will have to call in with the approval and take control.

The only Siemens panel that is non proprietary/open source is the fs-250.

That depends on the version . 10.03 & 17.02 were for Windows 98. Later versions worked with XP . We found a way around the windows 98 requirement years ago by using a dos based bootable flash.drive .
