Hi,
We picked up an account that has a GE EST-3 fire alarm panel. We performed the annual fire alarm test, and after we finished the following trouble existed. Could someone please point me in the right direction? Is this a programming issue or a hardware issue?
Trouble : 0001 Local Trbl act 01020672map Fault data card 1
Thanks so much. Help would be very much appreciated

Did you remove any devices from the addressable loop?

You realize if you're not certified to work on EST systems you shouldn't touch it, right? LOL. It's typical after testing or just cleaning and re-installation of smoke detectors. You need to read in the map and check mapping errors, 90% of the time there are none. frequently you can just commit all and write the loop back. (Until next time you touch a device.) So now the customer will have to pay even more to get their old company back in to fix it. Bottom line is whatever money the building owners saved by using your company they just lost it as soon as you walked in the door.

""Is this a programming issue or a hardware issue? ""
20/80, if someone touch the SLC line it maybe a hardware issue.
but most likely it is a programming issue.
You will need the software, software key and most of all the DATABASE to fix this map fault and an EST3 Tech

cause of map faults
- Loose wire connections on detector bases, module terminals, at the SLC card, or at a T-tap.
- Over-tightening a detector base onto the backbox, causing it to warp, resulting in bad or intermittent connections with the detector head.
- Replacing like devices in a SLC that has been left balanced.
- Replacing devices with models that differ from the ones removed.
- Adding new devices onto an existing SLC.
- Rewiring an existing SLC.
- Balanced maps.
- Defective devices.
- More T-Taps in the SLC than the maximum allowed for the system.
- More devices in the SLC than the maximum allowed for the system.
- Resistance or capacitance in the field wiring in excess of that supported by the system.
- Reversed polarity. Connecting the SLC+ wire to the device SLC− terminal.
following this causes should help you identify the root of map fault.

I had a map fault after testing. I went back a few days later and it was gone. YMMV.

Ya Old tech, I have a certified EST technician that will do about anything/ help for a cold beer. We did save the customer money $$. It was a programming issue. Two detectors that were installed by there OLD company were never programmed. That old Company really saved them some money ,didn't they!
