EST3: 3-AADC1 Intermittent Device
Communication Fault on Retrofitted
IRC-3 Systems
Introduction
This bulletin informs you of an issue with the 3-AADC1 Addressable Analog
Driver Controller module.
Issue
After retrofitting an IRC-3 system to an EST3 system, the 3-AADC1 may
experience loop communication problems (intermittent device communication
faults).
Solution
The 3-AADC1 module’s LIM card firmware version must be V3.60. Determine the
firmware version and, if necessary, replace the module.
To determine the LIM card firmware version:
1. Remove the 3-AADC1 module from the rail chassis in the panel and locate
the firmware chip located on the LIM card. See Figure 1 on page 2.
The LIM card firmware version is stamped on a label on the chip. If
necessary, remove the LIM card from the 3-AADC1 to see the firmware chip
label.
2. If the firmware version is not V3.60, submit an RMA for a 3-AADC1 warranty
replacement.
