Topic: EST3 - 3-ASU Message Limits

Introduction

We specify the message limits of the 3-ASU Audio Source Unit in terms of time. Each message has a maximum duration of 40 seconds. The 3-ASU can store 2 minutes of messages. If you add a 3-ASUMX/32 Expansion Memory board, the 3-ASU can store 32 minutes of messages. However, no matter how many minutes of messages you store, the maximum number of messages you can store is 255.

Problem The 3-SDU lets you enter 255 messages in a single session. The limit of 255 messages may be exceeded if you add more messages in another session. When more than 255 messages are downloaded to the 3-ASU, the module may not play any message during an alarm condition. This problem may not be evident if the panel goes into alarm within 30 minutes of a reset. After 30 minutes in a normal state, the 3-ASU will not play any messages during an alarm.

Solution You must track and limit the number of messages in your projects manually. To see how many messages you have in a project, choose Configure > Cabinet. In the Cabinet Configuration dialog box, select the Modules tab. Select the 3-ASU, then
click LRM Config. In the 3-ASU Configuration dialog box, select the Messages tab. The number of messages for the 3-ASU is shown near the top of this tab, and must not exceed 255.
