Fireworks Debug Assertion Failed error

I have fireworks v1.7 on windows 7 32bit. Recently I have connected the facp to fireworks with serial-to-ethernet device (to extend distance of facp with workstation) and creating a virtual COM port on the workstation PC.

Everything works perfectly and communication is good except for one issue. Whenever there is "Alarm" or "Alarm Restore" event, a "Debug Assertion Failed" error appears and has three options: "Abort or Retry or Ignore". The alarm does not display on the fireworks until I press "Ignore" on this error window. If I press abort or retry, fireworks will terminate.

I have attached a snapshot of the error as well.

Any suggestions to solve this?
