Topic: FireWorks - Programming in Your Office
This procedure lets you modify an existing FireWorks database on your own computer. This means you don't have to travel to the customer site or procure customer HASP keys
to modify a FireWorks system. All you need is a FireWorks CD and a valid 3-SDU HASP key.
To do this, you use the FireWorks CD to install FireWorks with the demo database. Then you copy the customer database file and map files onto your computer. Finally, you open
and modify the customer database. The detailed steps are listed below. Procedures You can use any version of FireWorks for this technique, but with FireWorks Version 1.21
or 1.22, you will not be able to program command functions. If you use Version 1.30 or later, you will be able to program command functions.
To install FireWorks with a demo database:
1. Remove all HASP Keys from your computer.
2. Insert a FireWorks CD (P/N 3100303, Version 1.21 or higher) or Demo CD (P/N85012-0014) and start the installation process.
3. When prompted for a PIN, enter the demo PIN: Synergy.
4. Allow the installation to complete and reboot the computer.
5. Verify that the installation worked by checking the following:
• System Builder will not start
• System Control will start, but displays a warning that the key is missing, and asks if you want to run in demo mode
• System Control has an additional Demo menu in the menu bar
6. Exit from FireWorks and install any HASP key that is valid for the 3-SDU program. When you start FireWorks with your HASP key installed, you'll be able to run both System Builder and System Control. The demo database file is labeled FireWorksDemo.fwk or SynergyDemo.fwk.
To modify an existing customer database, you'll need to copy the database file (the
extension is FWK) and the map files. You can do this whether or not System Builder is
running.
To modify an existing FireWorks database:
1. Copy the customer database (FWK) file to the Fireworks\System folder.
2. Copy the customer map files to the Fireworks\Map folder
3. In System Builder choose File > Open and browse to the customer FWK file. When you click OK, FireWorks exits from the demo session.
4. Start System Builder again. This time, FireWorks opens the customer FWK database file you just specified. Now you can modify and save the customer database as needed.
5. When you finish, choose File > Open and select the FireWorksDemo.fwk or SynergyDemo.fwk database again. This ensures that you'll be able to start FireWorks after you remove the customer database file to take back to the customer location.

Working with more then one Fireworks database one your PC
Working with more then one Fireworks database one your PC
I make a copy of the Fireworks directory and rename it
eg:
c:\fireworks
c:\fireworks - customer2
c:\fireworks - customer3
c:\fireworks - customer4
And simply rename the customers FireWorks database that you are working on to C:\Fireworks
Once the Fireworks program is started you will need to reboot your PC to rename the directory to one of the other databases because same of the files will be locked.
